Which script?
The script is the decision you are actually making — the same words read completely differently in each, and each one is weak at something.
| Script | What it suits | What it is weak at |
|---|---|---|
| Diwani | Names, weddings, ceremony | Hard to read at a glance |
| Thuluth | Verses, large walls, the majlis | Needs a large piece to be itself |
| Naskh | Long lines that must be read | Quieter on a wall |
| Kufi | Names as a square pattern, modern rooms | Reads as pattern before text |
| Ruq'ah | Short everyday phrases, mugs and trays | Plain for a formal piece |
| Nastaliq | Persian verse | Fights long Arabic prose |
What it costs
Every size, every finish, in one table — the same numbers the product page charges. The frame colour never changes the price: eight colours, one number, so choose the one you want rather than the one you think is cheaper.
| Size | Dimensions | Canvas, frameless | Canvas, framed | Canvas, framed + acrylic glass |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A3 | 29.7 × 42 cm | … | … | … |
| 50 × 40 | 50 × 40 cm | … | … | … |
| A2 | 42 × 59.4 cm | … | … | … |
| 50 × 70 | 50 × 70 cm | … | … | … |
| A1 | 59.4 × 84.1 cm | … | … | … |
| 60 × 90 | 60 × 90 cm | … | … | … |
| 100 × 70 | 100 × 70 cm | … | … | … |
| A0 | 84.1 × 118.9 cm | … | … | … |
| 90 × 120 | 90 × 120 cm | … | … | … |
With or without glass? A framed canvas can be glazed under clear acrylic glass, which keeps dust, fingerprints and kitchen air off the print — worth it in a busy room or for a gift. It sits in the frame, so the rolled, frameless canvas has no glass price. Without glass the canvas texture shows and nothing reflects the light.
What is not in the table: delivery, stated on every product page; and anything larger than 90 × 120 cm, which we quote by hand — send us the wall. For several pieces, the published volume ladder applies at checkout as a code counted on the pieces in the cart: 10% off at 10–24 pieces (MASHQ-VOL10), 12.5% at 25–49 (MASHQ-VOL12) and 15% at 50 or more (MASHQ-VOL15) .
Send us five lines
Five answers and we can price it without a second message:
- The words, exactly as you want them written — spelling included.
- Arabic or Persian, and the script if you have a preference.
- The piece and size — a paint from A4 to 90 × 120 cm, a tray, a box, or just tell us the wall.
- Framed or frameless, the frame colour, and whether you want acrylic glass.
- The date you need it in hand.
Common questions
Is the calligraphy written by hand?
No. A bespoke piece is set in a classical script from real calligraphic typefaces, shaped in Mashq Studio, then printed or engraved and framed by hand in our workshop. No image model draws a letter. A sheet written by hand in ink and signed by a calligrapher is an original, written to order in 3–4 weeks.
I only know the name in English letters.
Send it as you write it. We transliterate it, set it, and send you the Arabic to check before anything is made. 296 common names are already drawn in Mashq Studio.
How long does it take?
5–7 working days after you confirm the spelling, then the courier. If you need it for a date, tell us the date in your first message and we say whether it can be met before you pay.
Can I return a personalised piece?
No: a piece made with your words cannot be resold, so it is not returnable — which is why we confirm the spelling and send a photo first. If it arrives damaged, send a photo within 24 hours and we replace it or refund you.
Do you deliver to my country?
Yes, delivered within 8 days.
Larger than 90 × 120 cm, or several pieces?
We quote those by hand — send us the wall. For ten or more pieces, write to us: the volume ladder applies from ten.
Before you order
A piece made to your words cannot be returned, because it cannot be resold — so check the spelling and the size before you approve. Prefer email? connect@mashq.ae.
